More than a massage... a gift of deeply exquisite healing

What is Ka Huna Massage?
Ka Huna Massage originated in the South Pacific and was used during Rites of Passage as a transformational massage and healing system. It is also known as Hawaiian Temple Style massage and Lomi Lomi or Heartworks. Sometimes also called 'Kahuna Massage'.

This beautiful form of bodywork provides a holistic approach to healing by balancing the body-mind in its physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions.

Ka Huna Massage is unique in a number of respects. The practitioner uses their hands, forearms and elbows as an instrument of the heart combined with breath, rhythm and wave-like energy flow. The practitioner moves around the table (using flowing hula & Tai Chi style movements) working with energy while applying soft and deep tissue massage. Music is played and the practitioner attunes the flow of the massage to harmonise the various rhythms within the client's body-mind-soul.

In Hawaiian language,Lomi Lomi means "to rub and roll". Therefore Ka Huna massage is a loving massage in that the practitioner touches and treats the client with love, respect and compassion. Lomi Lomi is also known as "loving hands". The Ka Huna Massage works by stimulating the natural flow of energy within the body in order to bring about changes in the physical, emotional and spiritual areas. Stress and tension is released so that energy can flow freely once more. It is also deeply relaxing and rejuvenating.

Ka Huna Massage is good for:
  • detoxification and waste removal
  • improving the immune system
  • stimulating lymphatic, circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems
  • releasing muscle tension
  • improving flexibility
  • improving muscle tone

Ka Huna Massage is a full body oil massage that promotes lymphatic drainage and thus the removal of toxins and as we let go of the old we make way for increased vitality, joy and love in our life.

Who can receive Ka Huna Bodywork?
Ka Huna Massage offers excellent treatment possibilities for people suffering stress, depression, exhaustion, physical discomfort and injuries, confusion, grief or loss. It can also assist if you're dealing with ongoing illness, work or relationship issues.

What can you expect during and after a massage?
During the massage, it helps to focus your attention on your breath. Each inhalation offers a chance to draw fresh energy and inspiration into the body-mind, and each exhalation, an opportunity to dissolve tension, to let go of anything that limits you, and to deepen your experience of relaxation.

If you experience discomfort or would like to express a particular need, please feel free to communicate with the therapist at any stage during the massage.

It is important to drink plenty of water after a massage as this assists in the detoxifying process.

Ka Huna Massage is a powerful form of healing that affects people differently. In the days following a massage, you might experience a range of emotions as various energies are still shifting. There is no need to worry. Simply observe your emotions without getting caught up in them and let them flow. The healing/cleansing effects and re-balancing of the body-mind can be felt for weeks after the treatment.
